Wait.

A month ago, I released a word on our social media about holes. You can find it here. It seems to me that in this busy, crazy beautiful thing that we call life, it is easy to get caught up in the rush...our own thoughts become replaced by popular opinion, our schedules fill up before we have the chance to decide how we would like to use our days and the gift of discovering our place in the world can easily become the burden of trying to be everything that we are supposed to be all at once.

Our souls crave space; breathing room.

Abba, in His wisdom, has created seasons and rhythms in nature. The cold season, although often bleak and discouraging, allows us to come indoors and quieten our spirits. Father calls us and waits for us, promising that

'in returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and trust shall be your strength.'

What is it that we are invited to return to?

As mothers, we are invited to be gently led, to come away and move to the quiet rhythm of grace.

The strong are invited to wait on the Lord because even young men grow weary and faint.

Thinkers are encouraged to trust in the Lord when their understanding fails them.

And all are invited to be still and know that He is God.

Winter is a wonderful invitation to shed what is no longer helpful and to wait and trust in the coming warmth and growth of Spring. In this quiet place of waiting; in the gap, in the hole, we are invited to be filled.

Slow down.

Are there holes in your life that you are trying to fill?

Do you feel the pressure to bridge the gap between where you are now and where you would like to be?

Maybe you don't have gaps....maybe there are thoughts and modes of operation that keep you busy, busy, busy and like a plane on autopilot, there is no room to reassess your direction, your path.

Abba's encouragement is to wait.

It is His good pleasure to pour oil on our wounds, to bind together our brokenness and to refresh us so that we may go out with joy and peace, with quiet confidence that we are walking in the right direction.

Don't be afraid of gaps. Of waiting. Of Winter.

They are invitations to return to the Father who waits for you.

'Therefore the Lord will wait, that He may be gracious to you;
And therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you.
For the Lord is a God of justice;
Blessed are all those who wait for Him.'
